What is the actual difference between fad diets, and LifeStyle Changes? Fad diets are usually diets that promise us a painless, easy way to lose weight fast and get the body that you desire. Fad diets can be seen on talk shows, radio and TV commericals, and infomercials. A majority of these appeal to our desire to lose weight fast, with little two no work involved. They bring in Doctor's from clinics and other medical fields that we have never heard of. They show you satisfied customers and give you their stories, how only this program has saved them after they had tried and failed with other diets and had spent thousands of dollars. They offer 100% money back guarantee's, and implore you to buy now. They may even promise that their product can remove 20 lbs of body fat in 30 days. This type of diet appeals to our desire to lose weight fast, without any work.
There are only three ways to lose weight;
1. You eat less calories than your body burns. Restrict Calorie intake.
2. You increase your bodies need for calories. Exercise or increased movement.
3. A combination of the two above.
A healthy diet you should not lose more than 1&1/2 to 2 lbs. a week. If you restrict your diet too much, your body goes into a starvation mode, and actually reduces your metabolism, and stores fat. LifeStyle Changes regarding weight loss should include quality of food intake and exercise. All that LifeStyle Changes means is to make changes to your eating habits a little at a time, taking small steps to get rid of bad and unhealthy food choices, and replacing them with healthy food choices. This is a life time processes, not for 6 to 8 weeks. Exercise does not mean going to the gym everyday and working out for 2 hours a day, unless that is what you enjoy doing. If your just starting out all that is required is movement. Do something, walking, riding a bike, playing with your kids in the yard, or chasing your dog around the backyard.
After all it has taken us years to gain the weight and it will not come off over night. A change in habits and attitude about food and exercise is what is needed. Commit to a lifeStyle Change, live longer, healthier and happier. Take charge of your life, become informed about your food choices, and start changing your life too day.
